Abstract: In assessing the relationship between plasma glucose, insulin and glycated haemoglobin, data for these parameters were obtained after induction of Wistar albino rats with 70mg/kg body weight of streptozotocin which resulted in Type 1 model diabetes. Treatment of the rats with 10% concentration of extract of Tapinanthus bengwensis and Oscimum gratissimum was carried out for two weeks and the parameters were evaluated and compared. Rats treated with T. benwgensis had significant effect of reducing both plasma glucose and glycated haemoglobin (HbA1C) and increasing insulin (P<0.05) suggesting a higher hypoglycemic propensity.
